    PRODUCT INFORMATION Z715.F Zener Barrier The Zener Barrier prevents the transfer of unacceptably high energy from the safe area into the hazardous area. The zener diodes in the Zener Barrier are connected in the reverse direction. The breakdown voltage of the diodes is not exceeded in normal operation. If this voltage is exceeded, due to a fault in the safe area, the diodes start to conduct, causing the fuse to blow. The Zener Barrier has a positive polarity, i. e. the anodes of the zener diodes are grounded.   OVERVIEW Zener barriers provide cost saving Ex-protection for various applications in process automation systems. The amount of energy transferred to the hazardous location is limited to a safe level incapable of igniting the explosive atmosphere. Z-system zener barriers from Pepperl+Fuchs are directly mounted on a 35 mm DIN-Rail. Through accessories, the required grounding can be done directly on the DIN mounting rail. Z-system zener barriers are available with high density up to 2 channels / 12,5 mm width.
